"What a difference! The new windows were installed back in October, and I was waiting for the "real" test to see how the temperature plunge in the Chicago suburbs would affect the new upgrades. The picture of our old double hung window ("I can't tell you who the builder is" ;) was taken on December 23, 2022, and, according to the mighty Google search, it was -9F that day. The picture I took today (January 23rd, 2026) shows a "lovely" -10F (feels like -26F). So the question is: Will the new, modern, high-quality windows from Legacy Windows & Doors "stand the test"? "Three months into our new windows and I’m still excited to see them every time I open the blinds or curtains! I am especially appreciating them now during the subzero temperatures this winter. What a change from our old windows! Thrilled not to see crystals forming inside and scraping the ice off with my finger nails. Our Legacy windows are so solid and efficient - more efficient than our walls. We do not live in a fancy home (a 3-bedroom 1957 ranch) but these windows sure upgraded the look. They are beautiful and well-made. Gint was so professional, knowledgeable, detailed, responsive, kind and hard-working. From start to finish, Legacy was so impressive. After receiving several estimates from multiple window companies (the big ones), it was so refreshing to meet Gint. He was down to earth, knew what he was talking about and didn’t oversell. His estimate was so reasonable and for such good windows. And they came so quickly! Other companies were quoting a 3-4 month wait time for installation. Legacy began installation about 3-4 weeks after I signed the contract! I was a little nervous to get the European style (if they break, who will know how to fix them and where do we get parts?) but I am so glad I did! They are fabulous. And Legacy provides a warranty and will always be there to help. Gint’s men who installed the windows worked so hard, taking very few breaks, even working through injuries (a VERY swollen elbow) and toughing it out. They were very creative with our crooked openings (it’s an old house!) and how to make everything level without sacrificing aesthetics. They even completely rebuilt my bay window because it was rotting! The window trim inside and the capping outside are both meticulously done and you’d never know they had any issues. The windows work perfectly and open easily, so much easier than our old casement windows. I’m sure there’s so much more to say, but I’m really happy with them and glad we made the decision to hire them. Thanks, Gint and Legacy Windows!"
